I finally got the spec sheet from the place I bought lamps. They are somehow different from I was told before. The lamp£§s average life listed £¨£±£°£°£°£è£ò£©¡¡is provided by the lamp manufacturer, measured by their testing machines. The 2500 hr life was tested by the ballast manufacturer ( the place I bought lamps ), i.e. they have run lamps for 2500 hr. I am not sure which one is closer. The ballast manufacturer is a small OEM ballasts provider, their ballasts do not have brand at all.

£Â£Á£Ì£Ì£Á£Ó£Ô£º
I found that new ballast ( the one can be used with 100v input ) in a local electric shop. The counter clerk told me it can light 250w
lamps. I run home and brought my 250W lamp to the shop. It was light up without problem. I didn't fell reducation of brightness. The new ballast is a brand name ( you can see on the picture ), and seems to be better made, so I decided to use this one instead and introduce it to everyone. For the reasons I don't know ( business secrets? ), the store won't provide information on the ballast, but only allows testing costomer's lamps on their ballasts. That is all I can do so far.

YWH -
Does the shop have the PMA251 ???

I got 150W YWH lamp !

The lamp is so small and the arc is about the same as the original bulb arc.
I insert the lamp to my Hitachi projector with 60V 150W E ballast and the original reflector.
It was hard to find the right place in the reflector, 1mm up or down and I lose most of the light. The Hitachi original bulb give 500 ANSI lumes and this lamp give the same lumens, I can see good pic at daylight with the windows 3/4 close.
With osram 4200K 150W HQI, I had only about 100 lumens in the original reflector,
The colors are much better too.
I think that the lamp is about 5000K.

Still I need to do more testing , to see if I can do better.:devilr:

Do you know why I have only about 5000K and not 6500K, is it my ballast?
Is this lamp need the right polarity (+) ( -) ?
I will post pictures soon.

YWH and 18wheeler.

Thank again for the effort you made, finally I can enjoy from my projector.

ywh

I received my kit this morning. Thank you ywh.

Kit is as shown in post #107 http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=678568#post678568
One of my ceramic holders is broken. both lamps are ok, they where packed in a pvc tube.

Now for some wiring questions:
1. On the 3 pin power input what is connected to each pin?
I think earth is on the left. what about the other 2?

2. 4 pin connection. Do I short circuit the 2 pins closest to the metal shield to turn it on? What do the other 2 pins control?

3. The red and black cables that connect to the lamp. Does it matter which end of the lamp they connect to?

I think YWH has soldered two pins of the 'blocky' component on the left just above the connector in the picture. that was the place that needs to be connected to light up the lamp.

I think the lamp holder will work just fine even with that one corner missing.

if you are replacing your existing lamp, please post comparison here. thanks a lot!

Got the kit

Hey Ywh,

I also have received the 250w lamp ballast kit, quick question though, the ballast's wire jumper can be set to 100V or 200v. Is this an approx. voltage as in Aus we use 240V. I discovered that China uses 220V, so I am persuming that it should be OK.
To answer one of Primes questions, the centre pin is more than likley to be used as the active line as it runs directly to the fuse.
