We are modding the Rev B board to include the Rev C changes.
Rev C board is ordered and on its way 4 days away.
This all takes time, changes, testing, re design board, check board data, order board, wait for board, build board, test board, listen to board, photo board, update website, fulfill present backlog due to Hypex being out of modules, answer emails re delivery, work out why Hypex have changed the spec of the HxR from 2W to 1W added a spec of 0.75W power dissipation, then wonder why they don't work for more than an hour! Try standard LM78, 79 V regs all work fine, try Sparkos V regs all work fine. Re spec Sparkos V regs at $30 each, order a batch. Build orders waiting for the new Sparkos V Regs to arrive from the states...... All good fun though keeps it interesting, though very stressful. New board is coming from a a UK company Quickcircuits rarther than Eurocircuits in Belgium.

I didn't know about the change to the HxR. Might want to look into the Belleson's as well.

I don't see anything on the datasheet indicating they would be insufficient for the application:

The HxR is not changed, but some figures are changed because some were misinterpreted. With the new information we can easily calculate the current we can draw. I.e: Take the Tamb, Tjunc and RθJA and put it into this formula: ((Tjunc - Tamb) / RθJA) = this wil result in 714 mW dissipation. If you draw 100 mA and you have an input of 18 Volt, you will be absolutely fine. The old datasheet also describes this 100mA under 18V input condition.

If your application runs to hot, consider lowering your input voltage (i.e. with a LM7815 or buck), lower your current draw and keep the ambient temperature in your case under control!

Let me know how you get on. The chaps who are in the Bruno Preamp group buy have been impressed so far with the quality :)

Well the guys at Quickcircuits turned the Rev C Nord Input Buffer Board Around in 5 days and done a really good job. So here they are complete with Sonic Imagry 994 OP Amps and our new Sparkos Voltage regulators, They are the best sounding combination so far and has really improved Soundstage.

Looks good Colin. Did you notice any difference in sound with those regulators vs the Hypex HxR's before they overheated?

Just curious, but what parameters make those resistors better than bog standard ones?

Tony Gee told me they are the best resistors in the whole world. Since the crossover has very few elements (the drivers have a steep slope by which a higher order filter is not necessary), the price is not a problem.

I am listen to Man of the Mancha.

but with this Izotope RX-5 De-Hum conf:

and the sound is incredible.
