I am in the middle of building my first tube amp and would like to know the best way to increase the power output. Currently the max is 4.5 WPC with this tube config:
12AU7/ECC82 Pre-Amp tubes
6BQ8/EL84 Power Output tubes
Obviously, I am new at this, so any and all help will be appreciated.

You need to tell us a little more about the schematic you're using. EL84 is capable of producing 10-12 watts in push-pull class AB1 ultralinear mode and probably a few more watts in pentode mode. It sounds as if your schematic could have them strapped in triode-mode, which, I guess, would give about the power you're quoting.
Max dissipation of EL84 is 12W, and 4.5W is about right from it. The best way to increase output is to use a bigger tube. The second best is to use push-pull circuit. The easiest is to run EL84 with more power dissipation than rated. But this will significantly shorten its life.
