Hi aetosa,

I thought that this one

is design for 25w only and not what you said 60w. I did asked the designer for a power boost but he said he had to redo everything. But after some years I think he did it. It's his new project 100 (on the same web-site). I have tried the old one but not the 60W yet. The 25w is easy for a freshmen. I did it without much difficulty 3 years ago.

I used 530 instead of 532

This is an old topic, but I'm pretty sure this is the IR app note I built an amp board from about ten years ago. It did work, but it died quickly driving an 8 ohm sub in my car. I was grateful that the power supply had DC output fault detection, so the sub wasn't hurt. I was also grateful that the amp failed with a short to the positive rail, because the protection circuit wouldn't detect a negative DC fault. (This was a design flaw... examining the circuit showed that it couldn't work unless you had an unusually sensitive optocoupler.)

If your speakers are worth more than a few dollars, I'd suggest using some kind of DC fault protection circuit with this or any experimental amp. And if there's any tweaks to the circuit that will make it electrically more robust, add them.

This thread refers to a couple of protection circuits:

There's also a Velleman kit, K4700 maybe?, that'll do the job.
