I dont wanna hurt these things so is this a good idea?

Don't bother, the Behringer amp has a highpass built in. I would keep the box relatively small and the tuning relatively high. You will make up for in volume what you lose in depth. 35-40Hz is a good target for Fb or F3 for any pro-type cabinet. Add in the Behringer 30Hz highpass and you are good to go.

There is nothing wrong with the speakers, I just wanted to make sure you didn't think you could run them with 1300 watts (or whatever) without problems.

Clipping isn't a terrible thing for subwoofers; Yorkville Sound actually recommends it (in writing) as a way to pick up a few more dB of SPL for free. There's another paper somewhere that proved that the damage caused by clipping is simply due to more program material power getting to the driver(s), not to the magical properties of the distortion.

Avoid MDF if you expect to move these cabinets. There's nothing wrong with Sonotubes IF you can figure out where to put the ports. Saving weight is a good thing.

You should consider the horn bins at http://www.speakerplans.com if one of those is suitable for the Peavey. More efficiency is good.
