Help me make a bass cabinet

Various opinions on group delay
but yes correct.
Tuning is low in frequency and box size is smaller.
Its essentially reducing the port output for less group delay.
Which could be helpful in reducing excessive ripple as well.

All together a smooth transfer function compared
to what I have seen. And would work and be enjoyable

Also like anything listening test is important.
I found it helpful in the past to not worry so much about
group delay.
And have tested the same driver , or listened to the same driver
with a enclosure with less group delay and intentionally
created boxes with more group delay to hear what the sound like
in real world. I try to divide assumptions and likely theory
to real world listening to see how real it is, or just assumption

Do you think it's better with this setup?
Have you heard the difference between a small group delay and a large one?

there you go
got a little better.

that first impedance peak was originally at 50 Hz
now its dropping closer to 40 Hz

the suspension is more happier
and looks like more port output.
the transfer function got even flatter.

seems my assumption was correct
the first impedance peak will tell you everything.

even with more port conduction, ripple seems to be behaving well.

as with any enclosure sealed or vented.
free air resonance will rise. no way around that.
problem is when free air resonance ( Fs) is 22 Hz
and in box it goes way up to 50 Hz
that is telling you unhappy suspension = box is too small.
if second impedance curve ( vent) is very very low 10 Hz
that tells you port is not conducting much.

in new red line you instantly see first peak Fs is lower = more real bass
you also see second impedance has come up in frequency = more bass from port output.

probably still wants to be bigger, more volume for suspension.
first impedance peak we can hopefully get down to 37 to 35 Hz at least.

which will lower the frequency of the peak but impedance will climb
it was at 50 ohms now closer to 55 ohms and might get high to 60 ohms.

once it peaks to 60 ohms, it can be brought down by making the port conduct more.
you will know if the port is conducting more if the second impedance peak rises in frequency
and impedance will also rise.

But on a positive note.
Learning sketch up is fun.
Great tool for combining reality and imagination.
Helpful for design and redesign, being cost effective
without building many prototypes.
Frustrating at first, then over time work flow speeds up.
learning keystrokes is good to learn, shortcuts work time and flow
believe version 8 was last free one before google sold it.
And previous versions has most export options.
Good to hunt down and download and work in that version.
Since demo will expire
