I'd be a bit weary of the woofer. I've never heard anything about Cambridge loudspeakers. They could be good, they could be awful. Again, not knowing the quality of the woofer I think that's a bit pricey for what you're getting. If you have some woodworking skills, it'd be more cost effective to build your own enclosures.

However, if the woofer is of reasonable quality and you're not very experienced with DIY loudspeakers, I think that's a good way to go. Everything is included, so it's hard to go wrong. A kit like that pretty much guarantees good sound.

thanks for the reply. i could not find cambridge on the internet so i thought id ask. i am new to loudspeaker buliding but cuold esaly build my own cabinets. i did plan to purchase this kit without the cabinets. if any one has any sugestions of a good woofer tweeter and xo of around the same size (around 5" woofer) that would still be fairly cheap it would be very helpfull
thanks

There is a good chance that the crossover for this 'speaker is a simple computer generated disign with no optimization for the drivers.

I have heard a pair of Solen designed 'speakers and they were not very good.

Check out the MB-1 at Murphy Blaster Productions or the Paradox at http://www.gr-research.com/paradox/paradox_1.html

Both of these 'speakers will probably blow the doors off of the Budgeto.

There are lots of DIY designs out there for cheap that sound great. Go to http://www.madisound.com and check out the discussion.
