A friend of mine wants to hook up his electric guitar to a pair of headphones directly plugging it into a fuzzbox, and if possible, mix in his iPod music such that he can play along with the music without disturbing anyone else in the house... It doesn't need to be very Hi-Fi.

The circuit needs to run off a single supply, 6 AA batteries in series, so giving about 9V nominally.

I've searched a bit on the web and found some simple opamp-based guitar amplifiers. I found that an average guitar element needs some filtering in order to make it "listenable". They also can't drive very low-ohmic loads.

Below is the contraption I've drawn up for him. Can anyone have a look and give me some comments? I'm not familiar with guitar amplification.

Thanks.
