Hi Terry,
Then we should ECL which is the fastest and has the lowest jitter, and does not have groundbounce as Jocko once explained???
I have tried reclocking I2S with I2S Direct that is transporting the three signals Wordclock, Bitclock and Data to the DAC and reclocking these in the DAC asynchronously. It was not worth the extra trouble and did not give an improvement. In fact sonically it is slightly worse.
I am using 50 Ohm coax cables as in my original post.

Of course 75 Ohm cables could be used as well.

Hi Elso,

WRT ECL, does not use std logic levels and requires translators
so this can add complexity.
WRT reclocking of I2S, I was referring to reclocking at transport
OP. I would think the best arrangement would be to have low
jitter XO local to I2S OP's and reclcock line drivers directly from
XO. Instead of 74HC125 line drivers use master clocked 74HC74
to drive EF's.

The IC Family and Jitter.

Hi Guys,
I´m thinking that is necessary remember
of our russian friend Kochkurov Maxim dates.
Your look the jitter dates.

ADM1485 5ps RMS
SN65LVDS050 2Ps RMS
MC10124/125 0.8Ps RMS
100PU124/125 0.2Ps(???) RMS
74LS familiy 8ps RMS per gate
74HC family 6ps RMS per gate
74ACT family 2ps RMS per gate
74ABT family 0.8 ps RMS per gate
MC100 family 1.5ps RMS per gate (russian equivalent is K1500)
MC10 family 0.6ps RMS per gate (russian equivalent is K500)
100 family 0.1 ps (???) RMS per gate (russian military aeroespace equivalent of MC10)

And next ourseltf have to ask what type these components to use.

By carefully is the same as womans only depend you.

Hola Jesús,

Very interesting overview. Are thes values valid for a single gate ? If more gates are active, the jitter increases ......

best regards

This is all very interesting but where did you get these numbers.
There are a lot of components or elements in a bunch of circuits that cause jitter.
