Western Electric built products that were Leased, not customer owned.
The customers never owned a WE Theater Amp, and they never owned a WE phone.
Leased WE products were Over-designed and Over-built so that they would never break.

WE knew how to design the amp circuits around their very high quality 300B so that it would play forever.

Some manufacturers of Guitar amps go the opposite way. First of all, they are customer purchased, not Leased.
The manufacturers will over stress the output tubes, so that they sound great for Guitar playing, both before clipping, and at clipping too.
They break, but that is OK for the manufacturer, because replacement and repair is on the customer, not on the manufacturer.
