Yes, the 7835 datasheet states that it can only manage a peak plate current of 325 amps. For this and other reasons an upgrade a Thales TH628 Diacrode in a new PA is planned. This is a four element doubleended tube that uses pyrolytic graphite grids, a thoriated tungsten mesh cathode, and a multiphase-cooled anode rated to dissipate 800 kW. The PA will operate as a class AB2 linear amplifier, eliminating the need for the anode voltage modulator.
