Many of us on the forum use LTSpice, which is freeware from
Linear Technology. It is true freeware, not a limited trial edition.
The component library is rather small so you have to add what
you need, but you usually have to add more or better models
to most other Spices too.

I am usually not much in favour of GUIs either, but if it is decent
if can be of some use for Spice. I tried various demo versions of
commercial programs before trying LTSpice, but LTSpice was
the only one having a GUI I could stand long enough to start
learning to use it. It is obviously designed by a programmer
who wants it to be functional, rather than a graphical designer
who tries to make something flashy-looking.
