I'm looking to build my first DIY solid state amp. Something relatively simple for the beginner. I'm looking for something to build as a learning experience and not just putting pieces together like a puzzle. Although I have had success tinkering with my own gear and garnered some understanding of amplifiers over the past year this knowledge is vague to say the least. Any suggestions?
Rodd Elliot not only offer simple amplifier, P3A
But also teaches a lot into ESP pages.
Also you can read the Dx amplifier thread...many pages to read filled with instructions... i doubt Carlos will repeat all that stuff to someone, even to you he will dennie, but everything is already written there.
Have only to jump over social postings.... this way you gonna see there's half or the predicted posts to read.
But i really think Rodd is more sinthetic, more objective into his pages, as he is not a forum and the text is a monologue..this makes things smaller.
Even how to design amplifier are there, but people use to be lazy to read... there you have several descriptions how the amplifier operates and how to design it using ohms law.
Rodd is the best option to you:

Carlos is old and tired, will not help too much.

You can try Nelson Pass forum section too... he use to teach and his amplifiers are very popular.

There are several options...and this confuses a lot.... i really think a good idea is to start with P3A

That one worked, thanks. I have ordered boards for a gainclone. Apparently they have support once I receive them.
It will probably be a while as they are coming overseas and the post office is usually pretty slow, which is OK as I have a Sherwood S-9910 to keep me busy. Thanks.
