Hi Tvicol,
Other than the new PCB design, most people might also need a CD puck,do you know if there is any source to have this make for the group? I bought a aluminum CD puck originally made for CD Pro M9 and M12 but not sue if it will work for the Sanyo Laser or not, will find out later.

For shure at some point in time i'll need to think on this, but let's take them one by one. First the board.

Funnily enough I just came up with a drawing for a redesign of the magnetic puck to be turned from aluminum on a lathe...
It basically has the same dimensions and would have three pockets on the underside for small neodymium magnets.
Have a look... and open to any suggestions.

Very first post. Please add me to the list.

Welcome to the diyaudio forums Collin :) This thread is immensely long, but you can find a condensed description of the basic mods and the "classic" Shigaclone power supply in this thread by Peter Daniel:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/audio-sector/160373-cd-transport.html

Hi Tvicol,
Other than the new PCB design, most people might also need a CD puck,do you know if there is any source to have this make for the group? I bought a aluminum CD puck originally made for CD Pro M9 and M12 but not sue if it will work for the Sanyo Laser or not, will find out later.
@ syklab, Styxx - There are compatible CD mechanisms that do not require a puck (they use a 3-ball laptop-style CD mounting):
SANYO LASER LENS SF-P101N DA11B3VF (16P) W/MECHANISM SFP101N | eBay
This mechanism is also considered to sound better than the boombox one.

Of the different custom pucks tested by forumers so far, my understanding is that the best sounding were the ones turned from hardwood (ebony), not aluminium. Admittedly, they were also the most expensive ones... I don't think anyone compared the custom pucks with the 3-ball mech though.
Here is (more or less) the start of the big puck discussion:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/120229-finally-affordable-cd-transport-shigaclone-story-64.html#post1781594

Also, Peter posted a drawing of puck dimensions here:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/120229-finally-affordable-cd-transport-shigaclone-story-72.html#post1906228

Do the boards come with control, dispaly and remote controller
If not, that would be a problem for those not owning a Shigaclone now

There will be three boards:
1. asp&dsp board
2. display & controll board
3. power supply board

For IR remote you can use a universal one.
I'll try to provide also hard to find components like LA6541, LA9242, LC78601 and maybe SF-P101N-16P CD mechanism.

Regards,
Tibi
