Fane SOVEREIGN 15-600LF

I have just purchased a Fane SOVEREIGN 15-600LF.
The pdf for it says it is optimised for a vented/ported enclosure.

Would it be OK to put it in a sealed 4 cubic foot enclosure ?

Or could I just put a simple vent on the back of the cabinet ?

I'd say tune 37hz in a box around the vas (big).
Sealed at 1/2 the volume of the vas probably has f3 around 70hz.

You should run a subsonic filter close below the tuning frequency.

I had a look around the internet for inspiration.
I read that Fs/Qes decides if it should be ported or not.
Mine is 84.
The same article says 50-100 can be sealed or ported.
I might just go for sealed. KIS

Agreed, the vent can always be plugged and the cab reduced in net Vb if it's too low Q.

~167 L/37 Hz Fb/45 Hz F3/6" dia. x 5" long vent = ~0.61 Qtc/70 Hz F3.

With that QTS, I think if you can tolerate a box twice as big as a ported, a tapped horn is an option also.

I have built a box which is about 3 cubic feet volume.
The size is restricted by the size available in my car to carry the speaker.
To help with the low end I will vent the rear of the box with a 4 inch round hole.

It will be used for home and mobile disco use.
It needs to fit in the car so cant be too big.

I finished off the box today.
4 inch hole in back panel to relieve air pressure.
Sounds very good with plenty of low end.
