Faital Pro 8FE400

I just ordered a pair of 8fe400, couldn't resist at 22euro each.

There appears to be pretty much zero on the net about them.
FS of 100hz is going to limit they're use in a 2 way, but 200-2k looks very smooth and 95db+ sensitivity would work well with the celestion 1-1746 and Pyle 612 I've had in the loft unused after getting caught up the the econowave excitement.

Probably have some celestion 15's I could use to make a 3 way too.

Am I missing something? Are they lemons?

They was released 3/4th quarter last year. That is the main reason there is little info to dig up.

The impedance shows resonances at 300 hz, 1k, 1.5k and 2k ish.
Meaning you will have breakup or resonances in the midrange where you aim to use them, however objectionable or not.
The FR looks very smooth still, but amount of smoothing applied is anyones guess🙃

Hard to go wrong with that pricing anyways.

Fatal makes excellent speakers and that price is a steal.

Playing the "speaker detective" game, I think they gave it a "too high" resonance on purpose to avoid people using them in woofer or subwoofer duty, which given the small cone area would lead to overexcursion and damage.
Might be wrong if course, just guessing.

I've got 3fe25, 3fe22 and 4fe35 I've tried in MEH and ported enclosures, currently using the 4" in folded TABAQ which I'm loving. Stunning performance for £15 each. The 3fe22 in a MEH was very capable 300-1800hz and 100db/w, would make a good Midrange itself, a project I'll return to.

Looks like they'll manage 60hz at 100db or 200hz at 120db. A 23l ported box will go to ~70hz, so you could just squeeze out a 2 way for limited bandwidth and dynamics, but a 3 way capable of 120db+ seems more appropriate given I'd like to use them with a CD.

Bottom line, I can't resist a bargain!

8fe400 arrived a while ago. Will knock up a box with celestion cdx1-1746/Pyle ph612 to sit on sealed 15" bass and do some measurements.

I got a pair of 4fe42 for my folded TABAQ too. As simulation predicted the bass is not as good in these boxes as the 16 ohm 4fe35 but they have much smoother response and higher efficiency.
Ignore the distortion measurements, I tried a different pc that had lousy output volume so this is flat out with the umik very close to the driver to get to 90db ish. Will try again with sufficient drive.

Sounds like a nice project! On paper looks like LR2 around 1.5k for a near perfect directivity match to the Pyle horn If you can physically align their acoustic centers. The low Xo point will smooth out that resonance wiggle at 2k jussssst enough.

👍 £42 seems reasonable, 22 perhaps a steal 😎.

I'm not sure the celestion cdx1-1746 I have will go to 1500 I've not tried them yet. Worth a go. These wouldn't be my main speakers, so I'd like them to be able to get loud enough to make best use of the pro audio USP
Tempted by some 4550s.

Had an afternoon messing about with a test enclosure and minidsp.

Quite a fun sounding speaker. 12l sealed enclosure for the 8fe400, I've had that bump of distortion on a meh with my celestion cdx 1746 1700-3000hz before. Don't know if that's typical of them, I'll try another one.

Bit of eq got it
down flat to 35hz and sorted the bump at 920hz. And the CD eq.
