higher mass reduces sensitivity and efficiency.
Higher mass does not reduce power requirement.
I quoted the situation for my vented box and tuning it to give high output around the tuning frequency where Xmax is not used up. This allowed farhigher output SPL than the apparent Xmax would allow. OB cannot use this trick. I gained about 18db in maximum output at 20Hz that should be impossible considering Xmax alone.
