I sure hate to be plugging Rice-Kellogg dynamic drivers but....

It is stupid engineering to have speakers with resonance in the middle of their audible range. But that is always the case with subs. And related to that is the matter of sequestering the rear wave from a cone driver; there are no nice solutions and the only technically correct solution, a true horn, is unfeasible. I've been saying that on the sub forum without anybody seeming to agree with this obvious conclusion.

But when talking of mid-range and tweeter drivers, you can (and should) keep the speaker resonance outside the range. Moreover, there is no problem sequestering the rear wave satisfactorily or going to a dipole.

While it seems (to me) that it is impossible to make a sub "correctly", it does seem feasible to make upper-range drivers that work pretty well.

Not as well as ESLs, I would never say that.
