as a noob, i've just searched for the lm1875 on ebay + google. afaiu the lm1875 is not a finished amp but a board(design), still needing lots of other components before i can hook it up.
what else do i need?
and where would you suggest i buy the board + the other components?

no go for me.i'm glad that my soldering of wires to the xover worked out
fine + difficult soldering i don't feel up to...
i think it will be the dac from hifimediy.

my bet's on the remote volume working after input selection, USB decode etc -
quality / reliability on any no-name / e-bay direct product is always a concern, but this one looks like a heck of a bargain
i just learned that i can try using my onboard sound (Realtek Azalia audio chip on gigabyte main board), no need for a dac
i guess i'll try it, if needed i can get the dac later.

Try the onboard sound first. You can also go for add-on sound sound cards later if required - there are decent ones (much better than onboard sound) <$100.
some one suggested this dac with optical in (toslink) only $38.00 + shipping

That Amp looks sweet. It also has a headphone amplifier. It seems very new and I can't find any reviews or anyone who has actually heard it.
