What are you people using to contain your video projector?
I was thinking about modding an OHP into a smaller case, such as an old desktop computer. But I assume OHPs are designed their own way for a reason. So would decreasing the space between the projector bulb and the fresnel lens create problems? Increased heat? Loss of light?

Noodles,
distances between bulb and fresnel, also between fresnel and objective, are essential parameters of a lighting setup. You must built any case around this. Decreasing distance bulb - fresnel would not only increase heat, it also would enlarge collimated beam towards the objective, which would cause not all the light to reach the objective.
