Hello DIYers,
I'd like to make a shielded cable to connect a tonearm (low output MC cartridge) to an MC phono stage. The phono input is unbalanced (sigh).
A few cables I've looked at are the Mogami W2534 and the W2893, both shielded quad. Another option is Canare L-4E6S sheilded star quad.
If there is a better choice of wire and preferred shield termination style for this application, just lemme know!

Send your arm to The Vinyl Source in Scotland who will rewire from cartridge to phono plugs in a one metre straight length. No plugs no joints just a pure connection. My rewire took three days including postal time and a £150 fee which has turned out to be the bargain of my hi-fi century.

HI,
With my Denon DL 103 without SUT I used to make the cable from TA ( 5 pin Din ) to Prephono (RCA) with Mundorf wire 0.5mm Diam. , silver and 2% gold. I also used as protection/shield a Polyester/Copper hose.
I have no hum at all and sound wise is good.
I have separated ground wire from TT to the Pre Phono.
