Hello,
A model of my DIY loudspeakers i have served Ti6k- JBL. My first contact with
them, was in distant 2005.
I started working with them in 2009 and finished in 2012.
The loudspeakers are "SEAS"- Excel / Tw-1”, Mw-5”for center 2х 5.5”,Bass-8,5”/ and cross-over parts- "Intertechnik".
Have are some pictures, if there is interest, i will continue.

Your time line is somewhat similar to my MTM's but the end result is leagues ahead in form and finish!

Тhe problem is not the finish / polish /.
It's "maple veneer bird". Each veneer can be bent or radial-axial.My DIY loudspeakers in there diagonally bending.

I omitted to say that the glue that use is polychloroprene- no chance for further adjustments!

Lovely! The good news is that the more time you spend building the cabinets, the less you will want to keep trying something else!

Out of curiosity, how does your center channel end up in terms of crossover point and bass.

Gorgeous wood work there. Don't ever let a toddler anywhere near those speakers, I suspect he would have an insurmountable attraction to touching those!

At the beginning the project was a 3-way SEAS Excel,1",4,5",2х 6,5",which required volume. The box get 32L
but dropped / now working on this project /.
I had concerns that the volume will cause problems for new drivers,
but I was amazed by the result.
Got to be musical detail information
and at the same time giving the impression of a deep and prolonged bass!

You are right, when I was visiting her granddaughter finger stuck in the tweeter.
The other does not bother me.The thickness high quality auto acrylic varnish over 0.032"
This makes 37-40 layers, applied manually with a gun.

Beautifull work! Here I am struggeling to get an even paint finish on two square mdf subwoofers. I see that I have a lot to learn.
