After swapping around the heater circuits, they now both show the same behaviour : they are both too high, about 6,4 volts. I think I'll take your advise and leave things for a while because I'm slowly going mad.

Well, like you said, it is easy to get confused. Yesterday everything measured fine, loaded. This morning I swapped the heater circuits and measured again...unloaded. Loaded it is about 5,4 and with a KR300B in its rightful place it is 4,97. Sorry for all the unnecessary postings...
