Same here, als Sharp LT022MC (1rst gen. laser diodes used in almost every early player) are crap.
AFAIK Rohm has stopped production of the RLD-78MA.
Those might work as well instead of the Rohm:
Arima 5mW laser diode:

QSI 5mW Laser Diode - as fas as I understand the datasheed,
thy buyer can choose from different pin configurations, common anode / cathode

Interesting, the only problem is where to get it. Here in Canary Islands is not always easy to buy abroad due to Customs burocracy. I'm with the second KSS-272A with a Rohm 78RLD-MYA but I haven't finished yet, but it seems to work too.
Maybe the reason for not finding datasheets like that one under
https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1944121.pdf
for KSS-213C = KSM-213CCM/213CDM
is the fact, that not SONY is the manufacturer - at least according the datasheet
The manufacturer is
Smartech Electronics and Machinery Manufacturing Co.,LTD
Maybe the manufacturer of the other loaders are also other companies.
KSS-150A = KSL-150AFM
KSS-210A = KSL-2102AAM/KSL-2101ABM
KSS-210B = ?
KSS-212A = ?
