Information: HQ DAC reference ES9018S

HQ reference DAC ES9018S - USB PCM / DSD DAC
Digital-to-analogue converter. DAC- ESS Sabre32 9018 chip. Resolution, 32 bits.
Technical Specifications :
● SNR: >120dB.
● Dynamic Range: 115dB.

● THD+N: <0.0005% at 1KHZ

The design philosophy: Combination of Art and Audio

A. HQ reference DAC ES9018S Module have these features:

1. Input: - 4 inputs:
1. USB,
without USB Amanero on board.
2. Spdif coax with DELUXE RCA on board.
3. AES/EBU with NEUTRIK XLR FEMALE NC3FAAH on board.
4. Optical Toslink with TORX177 one board.

- Amanero module integrated to have USB input
- Support 44,88,96,192,352,384KHz PCM and DSD to play SACD ISO
- Full ground isolation from USB module
- Isolator I2S with ISO7640

2. Outputs: Stereo (2 Channels) or mono with a voltage output or current output

- The ES9018 have 8 channel DAC that can be configure in parallel to get a stereo output and to increase the performances.
- Using the current mode should be necessary to use an external current to voltage stage (I/V).
- On board a passive I/V created with a set of 1 x 10ohm 1% resistor, using this value the final DAC output will be 1.6Vrms with op-amp and 1.4Vrms with vacuum tube stage.
- The DAC can work with a voltage output or current output with use jum.
- Optional passive I/V

3. Clock: This is a critical component, the sound performances can be compromised with a cheap oscillator so we are using the CCHD-575 Ultra-Low Phase Noise Crystal Oscillator, 3.3V HCMOS.

· The frequency 100MHz as been choiced to support any PCM and any DSD sampling frequency.
· On board reference 100MHz Crystek oscillator with a jitter of 0.5psec
· Ultra fast oscillator buffer

4. Remote control : Board LCD with RMB-CM11111 Remote Control Volume.

- 4 row x 20 characters LCD
- PIC Microcontroller to remap DAC and share I2S connection with DSD signals
- Controller compatible with any 5V LCD and VFD
- Simple firmware upgrade
- Large dB volume display
- Remote volume control
- Remote mute control
- Remote input control
- Digital filter control

5. POWER SUPPLY
- 2 x Top performance linear pre-regulator LT1963
- 2 x Separated fast shunt for any digital section
- 5 x Separated fast shunt for any analog channel

6. PCB-DAC
- Material thickness: 1.6mm
- Copper thickness: 35µ (1oz)
- Special surface treatment: gold-plated

7. Components:
- The capacitors: Matura, Wima, Os-con, Panasonic
- The Resistors: All use MELF Resistors Vishay
- The main components are bought from the site: Mouser Electronics - Electronic Components Distributor

8. HQ reference DAC ES9018S Module

- Assembled and Tested

9. Warranty:
- 1 year warranty, if fault ES9018 chip, support and technical issues updating the firmware upgrade

B. DCD V/I Converted - Direct Coupled Differential with Class A output stage:

1. Use and Inputs: Use with DAC voltage output :
- ES9018, CS4398, FN1242, WM8741, AK4397... WM8741, AK4397...

2. Output:
- Full balance L+R
Balance output on XLR left and right with NEUTRIK XLR MALE NC3MAAH-1 on board
- Singed output on RCA DELUXE RCA on board
- Headphone: play with headphone 70 Ohm.

3. Information:
- no feedback
- very low distortion because it work as current amplifier
- Full class A operation on any load
- Dual Single Ended mosfet buffer
- zero dc offset using dc servo loop
- variable voltage gain only changing a single resistor (I/V)
- 3 voltage amplification setting with jumps
- high output current to drive any low impedance headphone in pure class A
- high output voltage to drive any high impedance headphone
- very low output impedance to drive any cable
- both un-balanced and balanced output
- differential configuration to reduce common mode DAC errors
- output relay for the startup-up phase
- discrete high current shunt regulators

4. Sound Characteristics:

  • The sound very natural and detailed balance
5. PCB- DCD V/I Converted
-Material thickness: 1.6mm
-Copper thickness: 35µ (1oz)
-Special surface treatment: gold-plated

6. Components:
- The capacitors: Matura, Wima, Os-con, Panasonic
- The Resistors: All use MELF Resistors Vishay

Good optimization, these will give extra confidence in quality!:)

I believe Matura is Murata...
I hope the LMV7219 are not ordered from Mouser...
Would like see a picture of the new Dual Single Ended mosfet buffer DCS I/V.
You may consider open a new standalone thread just for the DCS I/V as many people do not know this can be used on other DACs.

yes Murata, and Lmv7219 order from mouse!
thanks

Production Planning DAC 32 V2

Hq - DAC - This is one of the designs of Andrea and my heart , you can see through the research process layout is as follows :

I have done up to 5 times the actual PCB layout and editing a lot more time to be completed and the experiences and advice of CAAD has given me a lot of changes to the layout DAC achieve optimal quality .

I am very happy and feel very grateful CAAD shared an important experience in Audio Design ! Besides he has to help me measure DAC check and test run part DCD - V / I for Dac .

Thank you very much ! I would put production plans DAC32 V2 .

Production Planning DAC 32

1 . Get money set production DAC32 :

03/01/2014 to 12/01/2014.

2 . Buy the electronic component parts :
13/01/2014 to 22/01/2014.

7 . Packaging and test preparation to send DAC members
from 27/03/2014 to 02/04/2014.

8 . Send to DAC members :
02/04/2014 to 10/04/2014.

9 . Summary.

Thank you for your attention to this DAC design !
The advance payment you please give me 50 % of the amount you have chosen , I have the money to buy the ingredients for production and confirm your subscription DAC .

Payment period begins on : 03/01/2014 and end on 12/01/2014 .
Everyone please send payment to my paypal account : quanghao168@yahoo.com.vn

Thank you !

Hi Quanghao,
do you think this transformer can work with just the dac module?
I have a couple of those laying around and some recycling is always good, thanks in advance for the answer

yes.
No good !

Please use this: it is good for DAC : TE70050-ND

Invalid Request

And For DCD V/I
it is : TE70084-ND
: Invalid Request

thanks
