Any functional replacement?

Hopefully the CHP70.3. It likely won't plumb the same depths, but new cone material, shape, VC, and Matsubara-san spider should give it an edge elsewhere.

Now that Bob has no EL70 (i have lots), Mark can unleash his entire arsenal.

so that's official now, or just "forward thinking" ? of the former, any anticipated release date?

Not official AFAIK; presumably stock of the current unit will need to be depleted. With my best guessing hat on, if a gen.3 unit is developed, I suspect the shelved down top end will be brought back into line with the rest of the FR, so it will be much more akin to the EL70 & original CHP that was sold in the Japanese / European markets.

I could of course be completely wrong though. It's been known. More often than not.
