A Philips CDD 461 CD rom, this is a kind of cd player for PC with audio out and data I/O.

DAC is TDA1543. Transport is CDM4.

It sounds like a tape recorder copy of a tape recording of a record.

Low & compressed dynamics, rich harmonics, very nice for electric guitars, I always liked that 20 years ago :xeye:

I do not believe the TDA is faulty...

Now see what you hear :D :

Anybody mentioned that channels sound different ?

K3 left -46,7dB, right - 39,3dB.

Very strong noise floor.

Left channel: Strong harmonic @ 21 kHz -25dB

Right channel: Strong odd order harmonics up to 45kHz.

The worst I have ever seen so far.

Stacking could help a lot :)

CDROM ! Sound was a feature then, quality was not important. Only 5V and 12V supplies for servos, spindle motor and everything ? Switched PS ? It seems TDA1543 is your worst enemy as you seem to want to prove it's our worst nightmare.

I wonder when you will hook up your analyzer to your fridge with TDAxxxx chip in it.
