Hi
This is a very simple question.
Please can someone tell me the best way to connect a foil inductor to a PCB, or perhaps to standard wire connected to a PCB? I have not used foil before, so I apologise for my ignorance.
Thanks in advance.
Michael
In the past, I've scratched away the screen on the pcb and soldered the foil directly to the pcb trace. The biggest issue is properly securing the inductor to the board so that it doesn't come loose and tear the lead.
Use tiewraps or nylon screws (actually every non magnetic metal will do), to secure the inductor. I use point to point connections, so I suggest to solders some solder lugs on the PCB and solder the foil to that.
