hello Peter

you don't use the Beyma Ribbon anymore ?

Hi Angelo,

Yes, I still use the Beyma TPL-150H AMT. To my ears they sound more revealed and natural (especially on female voices) than any of the compression drivers I have tried so far. The picture is of the current setup.

Best regards
Peter

hmm, compression drivers have their problems (peaks, bad resonant metallic materials, but mylar is good), but the horn is usually the worst offender for echo and standing waves (across mouth, mouth to throat, and any pinching - slot - parallel walls - corners - rapid breaks in expansion). My buddy said the worst offender can be the first few inchs of the throat.

Check out the peavy quadratic horn, the hr90 by ev, xt-1464, and mcm 54-580.
Stereo labs is probably good but only 3 octave (tractrix)

Oval should be better than round or square (mouth standding waves) and conical though badly loads the low end should sound best (least echos). And the oblat spheroid also
