Yes, you need that 22p - its a compensation cap, stops the mic amp from oscillating at some high frequency.

It is a 22p. I was wondering about the apparent value of 22n. I dug into my old parts tins and found some of these red ceramic caps apparently marked 39n in the same way as your 22p. On a cap meter they read 39pF. Some of the others in my stock have similarly confusing markings, like 'H12C ' - actually 120pF.

If it was me, I'd just leave it in.
