Doesn’t make sense to not ask for both options does it? Especially since I already have Harris and others to play with. Please make my order Sissy/Babel compatible.
Just wanted to ask where others are sourcing their input trannies from here in the US...are the Cinemags the preferred flavor?

I am not sure they are all the same thing. Not sure how ZM is implementing here as well. The turns ratio on the parts is different AFIAK.
Sound wise, IMO - Edcor from M2 listening, others from F6 listening
Edcor - Steel laminations - not most detailed, but makes everything sound pleasant on not feel like your missing anything.
Jensen - Well loved and respected. Sounds most ethereal and spacious. Slightly more detailed.
Cinemag-Hi Nickel Version - very detailed, yet sounds more gutsy than the Jensen.
So all kinds of music - Edcor,
Classical, vocal, Jazz - Jensen
Electronica, Rock , but fine with everything - Cinemag.
Take it, my ears have experience, but also age. I probably don't hear any highs anymore, so it could scream at 15k-20k I probably will not notice.
Thanks for your impressions Tea.
Zen says in M25 thread that flavors are:
......4 options for signal autoformer (pinouts for all present on pcb):
-Edcor PC series 600:15K (same one as in original M2) , thus having gain of 6V/V
-Edcor PC series 600:600 , thus having gain of 4V/V (edit - only for this one it'll be needed few exacto cuts of traces and few tiny wire bridges soldering ;same physical layout of pins as previous one , but different electrical connection needed ..... very hard to accommodate without too much complication )
- Jensen JT-123-FLCPH (same one as in F6) , thus having gain of 4V/V
-Cinemag CMOQ-4LPC (same one as in SIT-3) , thus having gain of 4V/V
I am in the same boat as you with my hearing. I like to spend a quiet evening listening to Gardot, Kent and the like and any effort I spend spinning vinyl usually focuses on Jazz. However, I love R&B and my current set up just doesn’t have the stones in the right place for it.
It may have more to do with my TB W8-1808 coming up short in terms of sensitivity with the ACAs I built and put in the system a few months back. The bottom end extended a surprising amount, but they sound muted or dull compared to the gainclone I was using previously with the TB. The gainclone had an obvious hole in the mid bass region with the same speaker set up and I was trying to supplement with just a subwoofer.
It could also be that I am using the DCB1 I built as a pre. I’ve read that others have had better results with the ACA in having a pre with some gain especially when using speakers that had lower sensitivity. The only other option I currently have is an old Audible Illusions preamp that I would need to re-tube and do a few other things to. I don’t remember reading any comments about what pre has been most successfully used with the M2 or any of these related amps.
Right now I am trying to get through some work on a different arm for my table so I can try some MC carts. Afterward, I can finally try setting up some more sensitive Lowthers I have to try with the ACAs.
The Jensen are readily available, I’m going to give a call to Cinemag later.

hm
better to keep technical related posts to tech. thread .......
however , due to really minor differences in tiny parts , whoever ordered Babelfish M25 kit package #2 , will also get few difference making parts for SissySIT
who ordered SissySIT #2 option , will get what's needed for SissySIT - why sending IRFP240 , when you don't need it ..... and I can play with them

Finally getting all parts in quantity during next week .
Well, in my neck of wood , getting ACS Hall chips promptly is sorta complicated .... in fact just slow , not complicated
Anyway , during next week I'm going to visit my Eywa ....... and parts will be piled up while I'm away
So , next weekend (not this one , logically) BigBadaBoom soldering action - ZM against all those little Bugs, Day of Triffids ..... JFet Snake Attack ..... whatever
Then packing and shipping .... of course - First paid - First served

Finally , packing and shipping time
Today packed one , just for giggles (my fave sentence in last time , dunno why )
Will proceed tomorrow , then to Post Office ....
Will PM or e-mail each Greedy Boy after sending , with Tracking No.
Each package sent declared as gift , no value specified , Air Mail , with Tracking No.
Found a way that bubbles are going in double layer
