You need 10 of the IRF640N FETs but you need 10 with a matching date code (or you need the ones on each side to have matching date codes). If you order by phone, you may be able to request matching date codes. I don't know if that's possible if you order online. The part at digi-key is:
IRF640NPBF-ND

You'll also need to remove the old heatsink compound and replace it. You can get a small tube of it at Radio Shack.

What are the numbers on the gate resistors?

What does your meter read when you touch the probes together (set to ohms)?

Before you attempt any repair, you need to measure the DC voltage between the center and outer legs of the rectifiers (fully encapsulated on the heatsink). If it's not near 0v, you need to discharge the rail caps. If you don't apply power to the amp until the transistors arrive, they should discharge on their own.

the numbers on the gate resistors are 300 when i touch the probes together it reads 000. the new transistors should fix the problem right? also why do all 10 need to be replaced why couldnt i just replace 2 that are shorted?

You can replace only two if you don't want it to be reliable.

300 is 30 ohms so reading 60 ohms was OK. Similar amps use 10 ohm resistors.

what if i cant find ones with matching date codes will that still work? like i was looking on ebay to get a 10 pack

DO NOT !!! order them off ebay .. Some of the parts on ebay are counterfit parts and you may get all shorts of problems with the amp after replacing the outputs..

So in other words you may run into a problem with the parts off ebay and then try to track down a problem that dosent exsist..

Many people on here will agree never to order them off ebay ..

I agree, too many ebay components are counterfeit or second rate. There are a few good sellers but I suggest buying from a real electronics distributor.

Why didn't you order from digi-key?

If you have a lamp with a standard incandescent bulb, touch the prongs of the plug of the lamp across the terminals of each of the large capacitors on the board. Don't do this if the lamp uses any other type of bulb.

it seems as though when the amp blew it took out the rcas on my reciever as well. is there anyway to fix that if so where would i find how to go about trouble shooting it

It may not be as reliable with mismatched FETs.
