I do actually have the electronics world article but apparently it contained lots of errors in.
Would Triple VI protection be advantagous to lateral mosfets without secondary breakdown?
Have only seen this schematic that uses VI protection. Presumably to get rid of non linear capacitance in the zeners gate protection diodes.

Hi Kevin,
This is a simple current limiter - it has no operating voltage sense. It simply turns on the sense transistor at 0.66V (say) to rob the MOSFET of drive. It occurs at 8A through the 0R33 source resistors.
