Hi,
I own an Altec Lansing FX5051 home theatre system and its power supply unit has gone bad. As Altec Lansing has declined me any kind of support (out of warranty), I have decided to repair it myself.
The problem is that the power traces on the PCB have been shorted i.e the output traces of the rectifier IC (RS401L - RECTRON semiconductors) are shorted.
I have taken out the rectifier IC and also checked the transformer (18.5V, 5.4A)
Both of them are working fine.
Can you tell me how to find the reason for short on the PCB? I thought that the two capacitors (4700uF, 35V) connected may have shorted but the do not show any physical damage.
Plz help me out
