The Death of Zen is a nice project to start building amps. It sounds good as well but considering the big trafo and BIG heatsinks that you will need it is not the cheapest. For a cheap and easy project the Gainclone is hard to beat and if your soldering/electronics skills are adequate try the AMP6 from 41Hz.com. All three are nice and easy projects.
