It's not clear whether you describe your experience or speculate about future events ?
since i use my ACA on Lowther drivers it does not get warm really. But when i will try driving my «Easy load 4 ohms» multi driver Audio Physics, the ACA may as well melt. Am I on the right track ?

ACA is , as any proper A class amp , hottest when mute
at least in usual exploitation scenarios

You mean it will not become more hot if driving a more difficult load ?

Sorry,
it was half a joke and half speculation about a future test i would like to do.

No need to worry, ACA will take the 4 Ohms load without a grunt, especially if you have enough heatsinking to do the "2k2 mod" (increasing the I_bias).

Walter
Yes, drive it hard and with difficult load and your Amp becomes less hot
That's class A...
Walter
Thank you gentlemen !
I will hook up my 4 ohms speakers this weekend.
This ACA (+mod 2k2) is a wonderfull amp ! Thanks Mr Pass.
Walter
Hi
could you tell me what changes did you do?
thanks

Hi,
i have a regular ACA kit (2 monoblocks in grey). I have done the documented installation including the modification (adding one resistor).
My ACA runs with Lowther DX3, to me it does not feel very hot even after a long time open.
I am eager to try it with my other speakers (4 ohms) this weekend.
Walter
If you read the illustrated guide to building the ACA by 6L6, it now shows how to hook up the 2K2 resistor on each amp board. It is between the board stuffing and the wiring up part of the demonstrated build. Look for a resistor being laid on top the board between a transistor leg and another resistor.
hello
My ACA works perfectly . for the moment I am using my worst music source, direct output of a laptop and the volume is perfectly adequate. my speakers are "tony gee LBS" I can also mount the volume loud enough to shout my wife . my next project will definitely DCB1.crash test drivers on picture .
By cons I'm worried my ACA is not very hot! I think less than 25 ° c .. it was most hotter when setting ...
