Nice one, Acko! Please advise the availability and cost?

Please wait for a while...
The I2S/DSD switching part has been completed and verified correct. Ordinarily, I would have rolled this into production as a simple adapter module but we have seen the issues with BBB getting damaged by improper shutdown. No just disk corruption, which is common with "soft" systems without any self-healing OS, but also possible hardware failure! The latter is unheard of in typical embedded systems. Not sure if this has been rectified by the manufacturer.
So until then we need to add a smart UPS to manage the shutdown safely. There is a bit of work involved and as soon as this is completed I will advise

So for clarification...

The BBB-UFL adapter board is a stop gap solution and the cape board is a future product?

Not exactly, depends on how you intent use it.
FYI, you will not need any adapter board if you can manage to hook it up as shown : ->here
But then you may need to jump through hoops and loops to pick and wire to the correct header pins on BBB as mapped by the Botic driver. The BBB-UFL adapter removes this guesswork and the U.FL outputs make quick and quality connections to DAC or S03.

All these if using I2S only. If DSD support is needed then rewiring is required to match the Botic interface accordingly. This is what the SuperCape interface will do automatically. Then there is UPS functions as described earlier.

Sweet!

How about circuits for at least one added sdata line, if not more? I understand the Botic driver supports 8 channels, and I need 4. Only populate the board as needed.

...with great interest,

Frank

Yes, this can be replicated for full 8 channels in the final version.
Thinking of separating the UPS function to allow this signal board to get ahead into production. UPS still needs more development and will be offered as separate add-on board (cape)

AKX9890 - NDK 98.304MHz/90.3168MHz

Replacement and more samples are being built. They will be carefully tested at all stages of the production to ensure no duds. Factory lead time ~6-8wks. Hope those who are affected can wait this long. Please let me know if you have any concerns. Sorry for the inconvenience

New batch looks good. Stable and healthy outputs on all the samples tested.
Single and dual clock options. size of CCHD950 package. Available now, limited stock. Factory Lead time 6-8wks

The new S03 board (black) has the land pattern to mount NDK NZ2520 series directly as shown. No separate daughter boards required

Hey Acko,

Did send you a mail asking if the clocks were included in the S03 price as I was confused, how much extra are these instead of the normal clock pair and do they sound better?
Given the other BBB cape option is taking some time looking to go with the S03, would like the ups cape to fit when it becomes available too. Any idea on del time for an S03 from order to del in Brissie please?
Also, with the NDK dual clock, what is the settling time when it changes frequencies?

Thanks,

Drew.

Sorry, been busy elsewhere :mischiev:
Clocks are included in the fully assembled modules and you can have the options for 45.1584/49.576MHz or 90.3168/98.304MHz types.
Please see my post here to help with the choices:98/90.xx vs 49/45.xxMHz

New S03 board has also the land pattern for NDK NZ2520 XOs. These have slightly better jitter performance than Crystek's 957 series in the audio band but still too early to say how the overall sound quality improvement will be like. I am using NDKs for the factory build unless you have other preferences

Settling time is <1s

Parts for S03 build are in stock. If you order now you can get this before Xmas :) Will email shortly

Is this the last of the group buy or can we still place an order for future delivery?
Thanks,
Mike

There are a few spare boards available from this batch.

S03 Bare board
Unit Price is USD 25.

Please be aware this involves sourcing and then assembling small/delicate surface mounted components. If you are confident of doing that then please PM me for ordering information. Otherwise please get the fully assembled unit

....
New S03 board has also the land pattern for NDK NZ2520 XOs. shortly

For those who have bought the new S03 'Black' you may get NDK ones from DIYINHK - super cheap @$8 but claims not fake!
The ones coming through my doors direct from NDK costs $30 for 45.xx/49.xxMHz and $40 for 90.xx/98.xxMHz - sample quantities.

Not sure why the huge price difference, possibly bulk discounts or regional pricing?

Heya Acko,

Thanks for that, how dare you be busy elsewhere! Are you expecting to have a life!
Shall be whacking an order through, just curious your thoughts on whether it is worth getting the single clocks or run with getting both the separate NDK and the dual clock NDK sample and figure a way to get them both to be swappable. There's some good English for you.

Thanks,

Drew.
