the only need for more fets is to reduce the dissipated power per fet.
Normally you would like them to dissipate around 20-30 watts to be on the safe side.
So if you want to build an 100 watt Aleph-X (into 8 ohms) the dissipation per channel will be around 200 watts (voltage and bias chosen to give 100 watts 8 ohms as maximum).

200/20 gives 10 fets
200/30 gives 6,66 fets

Since both are a bit difficult to build an Aleph-X you could choose 8 for 25 watts/fet or 12 for even less dissipation per fet.

So with 24 fets you can dissipate between 480 and 720 watts. The output power this gives is between 240 and 360 watt into the impedance you choose by setting bias and rail voltage.
