I aspire to be a Sissie, too I have a few projects already in the hopper - J is 3rd or 4th on the list, behind the VFet2, M2, and something else will likely pop up by then...

You will love M2. One of the largest surprises for me was AlephJ. 6L6, when he had group buy some while back, insisted I should try this one. Bought it, assembled boards and kept them. One day not long ago, I 'decomissioned" the F6 and installed the Aleph boards and outputs.

Wow...shouldnt have waited so long. I'm probably doing same thing with my Vfet kit....and my J2 parts collection! They rest.

A bought F6 is driving the bass. The Aleph is overshadowing it, significantly.

F6 isnt my favorite Firstwatt. AlephJ and M2 outperform it by no small margin in my humble opinion.

My F5 and my ACA sounds really nice, but my Aleph J is amazing. I also built mine on the advice of 6l6. Thanks for the suggestion.

to mood and individual taste.

But really, what a wonderful problem to have, pondering which of these wonderful
gifts from Papa to use. Talk about embarrassment of riches.

(In my case, the M2 was from the factory, while the F6 and Aleph-J were diy.)

This is what I used, have 4 more stuffed boards for same. Want to build another with the Toshiba outputs. His power supply boards are the bomb also

Any issues one can think of integrating the Aleph J with a wood base?

as long there are enough holes , to amp be cooled , nothing to worry about

I've made several amps (a40, multiple ACAs, and F4) all in wooden cases without any problems. Wood is easier to work with and, to my eye, looks nicer. Do make sure you have some opportunity for air circulation.

Thanks and using those giant heatsinks, mounted on top, fins facing up. I'll be sure the bottom is ventilated. Esthetics not as important as function. Also wondering how much power this will maintain with 12V.

I'm pretty sure that you know what you're thinking ........ but with so few words (about 12V ??) , you can't expect that anyone else is having a clue ......

The 12v bipolar power supply is what I have here ready for action. I have the DIY pcb for the PS but not the associated parts. just wondering if 12v will make noise.

I'm considering 18V as absolute minimum , to get through without penalty/punishment


don't skimp too much ....... after all ( or on start) , you're building one of the best amps around , in absolute terms

Will it make noise? Yes. Much? No. But you are really talking about testing it, yes? Go ahead.

How much current does it have?

As might Zen Mod says, you are building one of the best amps around, build a beautiful PSU for it.
