I would expect that the differences between the IRFP and the Tokin parts would show up more readily if you keep everything constant but drop the load impedance.
A triode-ish device should see the voltage across the load drop by a lot less than the pentode IRFP.
Separately your measurements have tempted me (successfully) to purchase the Tokin THF-51s. Does anyone have a datasheet for this ?
