First..go here and check which ASC type is the same as your cap in question:

Then, go here and check the suspected type (or look at the top of the ASC page and go to 'products') click on the asc capacitor type..and get design details:

This is not 100% accurate, as ASC may not cross the types exactly and may cross UP in quality..but generally, you'll be able to find out the type of cap you are looking at, if you know little but a name and 'part type-number' of a given capacitor.
Very handy when shopping on ebay and the like..and you are looking to get good caps but don't exactly know much about the capacitor in question.
