The Pearl uses passive RIAA eq., whereas the Aleph Ono and Xono use active eq. To the best of my knowledge, the Xono is not "X."
Using electrolytics is sometimes necessary if you want more than just a few uF. It becomes impractical to fit several hundred uF of film capacitance into a reasonable chassis, not to mention the fact that the cost of the parts quickly becomes dominated by the cost of the film caps. Do they make a difference? Absolutely. Are they always the best answer in the real world? Unfortunately, no.
