99db dome tweeter without titanium and without horn ?

What types and brands are there on the marked with such tweeters?

In the moment I know only the MT320 (MT 320) from Ciare (only 96 db, but still more than the average) and a RCF TW-116 based tweeter from German brand "Glockenklang" go to
http://www.soundland.de/catalog/images/products/tn/20/203545-350x407.jpg
and
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/mult...glockenklang-phenol-99db-based-rcf-tw116.html

Please note, I know the most magnetostatic tweeters like "Stage Accompany" SA8535 and different Alcone versions - I search only an overview about dome tweeters without metallic diaphragm material and very high sound pressure level without horn.

Thank you for your advices

The Seas Exotic T35 is up there around 95 dB. I've never seen anything higher than 95 dB for a driver this size. I think that's at the limit for what's actually possible without impedance transformation (meaning: HORN)

Thank you for your advices to seas and Athom
Here my overview about the loudest dome tweeter without titan/aluminium diaphragm, that I now know:

Glockenklang (RCF TW116 based) 99 db, made for
"Acoustic Art MK-III" and "Bass Art Classic Box"
Regarded the "Glockenklang" website more exactly navigation advices to find this tweeter:
1) Products - GLOCKENKLANG
2) scroll down left side of sreen in the button aera until the headline "Bassline"
3) choice the button "Acoustic Art MK III" and "Bass Art Classic Box" (99 db)
navigation advices by such websites are neccesary, because there are no deep links available. Therefore this site is hard to find.

I think Meiloon makes one at 96dB that you can find at Apexjr.com, not sure on quality.

Why do so difficult you need a ribbon. 25 euro 98dB 1Wmtr.

You have to understand where the high efficiency comes from. A horn or wave guide directs al waves in one direction that helps to increase spl. Also the use of Neodymbor magnets did increase spl by 3-5dB. So I doubt every tweeter that claims more then 95dB with no horn or wave guide. Then you have to research of axes response may be it has one strong beam with bad of axes behaviour.

This cannot be true. The Athom SD28ND04RD delivers more than 98 db as you can find by reading the complete thread.
Also Glockenklang say's regarded the "Bass Art Classic MkII" follow:
We improved the Bass Art cab with lower weight and better low-end again. It features a 2" dome-tweeter and a 15" heavy-duty RCF bass-chassis. It is a most natural and detailed sounding cab with a good sensitivity of 99 dB. Best combination with Bass Art Classic head.

This fact was the reason to start this thread to find more brands. Another possibility is an own creating of such a tweeter (i. e. diy - combination of a phenol recone kit and a magnet compression driver for horn systems) as you can read about
Bastanis DIY Forum

by the last picture about
6moons audio reviews: Bastanis Prometheus Mk.II
I read follow:

These tweeters are front- hornloaded and supposedly the only such commercial dipole tweeters in the market. They are built for Robert Bastanis in Bulgaria. He modifies their phenolic diaphragms with a mixture of violin lacquers and mineral powder.

By looking to this picture (if URL don't goes open, go to the attachement) I think, a diy dome tweeter for 99db/w/m with help of the horn driver magnet unit and a recone kit as diaphragm so as some additional mechanics must be possible.
Are there threads about this subject?

Hi, I'm new here - I registered just to answer this question, and ask one: :)

At least some versions of the old Infinity High Output Polycell tweeter are very efficient. I think my LMS gear is reading slightly high, but even allowing for that, I've measured the High Output Polycell tweeter at around 98 dB/1.414v/.5m over most of it's range (equivalent to roughly what you'd see at 1 watt/1meter into a nominal 8 ohms, ie., an input of 2.83v.)

Unfortunately, at least on the old ones, the lead wires to the voice coil deteriorate and fail, in my experience, even when unused and stored under good conditions. (I have a box of 'em that way, in fact!) Possibly you could find units with new diaphragms, or find old units and replace the diaphragms or have them replaced. The problem with replacing diaphragms yourself is that Infinity (in my experience) packages these horribly, and damage is likely.

-------------

My question is, are you looking for 99 dB at a true 1 watt input, or are you looking for 99 dB at 2.83 volts, even if the impedance is 4 ohms? Some of the suggestions above are 4 ohm tweeters, giving them a 3 dB "advantage", by drawing twice the power of an 8 ohm unit.
