8600s with Bugle Boy 12ax7

Felt like kicking back tonight and trying out couple of different tubes in 12ax7 position. I have several Amperax, some made in West Germany and others in Holland, with etching 63 and 39 to left of the rocket tube pic. Can anybody confirm this is from Heerland?

To me it has that wonderful 3D, not in spades as their 12au7 equivalent but detail to die for. Will try out West German version later this weekend.

Which tube is the best is a subjective topic
Just like Japanese loves Western Electric 300B not TAKATSUKI TA-300B .
Everyone know that small signal tube (12AU7,and 12AX7) is not the best tube from China, but they make good 300B.

Every one's cup of tea is different.

True Victor but if anybody has these in their stash they should try it. They should try all combinations in fact. The 8600 continues to surprise (stock with Takman), can’t wait for my 8900.

My research suggests 63 means 12ax7 but was expecting to find more details about factory.
