Well, as a matter of fact...
James suggested I use some in this thread:

What do you use them for?
Cheers,

I really like the 813
Any one on this list use 813s
in their amps ?
Hello,
As I write this, I am wearing a T-shirt with an 813 on it albeit very faded.
I have been playing with 813s since 1997. I have a p-p amplifier in which the 813s are driven by a 6SN7 DC coupled to a 6BX7 which sits on an EL822 pentode sink.
What would you like to know?

Hi Slowmotion,
The link was to a DIT audio thread where the attached schematic was posted.
Thank you for your comment on my (simple) webpages.
I had been looking for the 813 spec. I found this link on Bas Horneman's site:
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~rwillis/alex/
Looks interesting, do you run it in pentode or triode mode?
Cheers,

If anyone has something to add...just mail it to moi and I shall post.
By the way John...I have been looking forward to your 1250v psu...But could not view the attachement on your previous post..

I use the 813 in SE , with 10Y as driver
Amp is used from midrange and up
dhaen, tried your link, but didn't find anything there?
You have a nice webpage, though
7N7, hi, we know each other from joelist, I think?
T-shirt with 813, sounds cool
10Y has a good reputation; I sold the pair I had to another Joelister; now that I have a distortion test set, so we will test them for inherent distortion - it's supposed to be very low. If they are good then they'll be better than the oscillator in the test set
T-shirt has the famous RCA explanatory diaggram. I wish I could find somewhere that could do T-shirts properly - i.e. ones that last more than two washes

813 Transmitter
the most famous 813 application was in the AN/ART13 Transmitter -- a beast manufactured by Collins for military aircraft use until (I believe) 1953. This is still a coveted item because of the quality of the construction, stability of VFO etc.<p> Every once in a while you'll see them on EBay.

Re: Bas Horneman
Hello Bas.
Between me and a friend we have afew other makes of 813; if he has a digital camera we'll snap a few of them for your excellent and worthwhile shrine. I have an EEV example and also a British Marconi one. He has National Union also.

Re: 813 Transmitter
Yes 813 made its name saving the world! However, so versatile is this excellent device that it also made its name elsewhere - in the Altec 260W cinema amplifer (Bas this circuit is easily found on the net) but also in medical equipment for diathermy and also in industrial RF heating equipment too.
A real Renaissance Valve!

dhaen,
It's in triode mode, replaced 845,
813 sounds better in that amp to my ears,
1000V / 100mA / 10K output

give me a month or 2 ( or 3)
I might do that, have to borrow a camera , thoughIf anyone has something to add...just mail it to moi and I shall post.

Hi Bas
I would have to draw it first, but it's just a really
simple two-stage , the 10Y is loaded with 15K and
have 400V on the anode, so B+ for the 10Y
is about 730V , or so,
cap coupled to the 813, which have about 1000V
anode-cathode, both valves in cathode bias.
Nothing new or revolutionary here
The amp sounds good to me ,though
The "missing" first stage is taken care of by the
pre-amp, passive line stages need not apply
Do you have a schematic for me? One day also want a SE 813 AMP!
