Hi guys,
Is 6n3p a Russian equivalent of ECC85??
I've got 2 beautiful PCC85 Telefunkens in unopened packages.
And I would like to use them in the following preamp:

Isn't it possible to substitute the 6n3p with an ECC85, even though they are not equivalent?
I mean, just like substituting a 6SN7 with an ECC32...
Quote: " Same as Mullard ECC32, it's not equivalent to 6SN7, but all we know ECC32 is one of the hottest 6SN7 substitution in the market nowadays... "

Hi,
What may somehow hold true for the ECC32 and the 6SN7 just isn't true for the 6N3-P and the ECC85.
That doesn't mean you can't build a similar circuit with an ECC85 to what's been done with the 6N3-P.
It's just that the two are NOT equivalents in any way unless one would claim all pin to pin compatible valves to be equivalents.
We all know that that's just not true.
Cheers,

Thanx Frank... they do look close, at least in the basics...
ECC85
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Nice looking preamp.
No reason not to build something like it with ecc85's
Buy the Tube cad program, and use it to bias your selected tubes.
We can help.

Good Luck.

They were meant for FM front-ends. Seems a shame to use them for AFplanet10 said:I have a box full of ECC85s, be nice to find a use for them. I was thinking along the lines of something like this, or as a common cathode driver stage for a little SEP.

Hi Dave did ever make some amps with EcC85`s ?? i`m also looking for a nice audio amp project fro them .Regards

They are not in large availability therefore sell for $10+ each. I did use the 26AQ8 / UCC85 (cheap) in a recent low budget guitar amp build. They worked out well, although some can be rather microphonic.
Please do refrain from using them in audioband. ECC85 power most FM front ends ) in most tube FM radios and they do die pretty quickly (except in some SABA radios where they use 2 EC92). I have a few NOS East Germany made RFT ECC85 that do not seem to pull the stations. An old Mullard or Telefunken will pull many more stations.
Even though DAB maybe replacing FM, the ECC85 stock may die faster and old radio collectors like me might not be able to receive FM with tubes.
