i ran into two orion 2250sx's , was thinking about getting them, but when i checked out the board they appeared to have what looked like laquer sprayed over the board and components to make things look shiny.
the laquer also covers all the components on one amp...for the other amp it covers the board and components also, but doesnt cover the emitter resistors.....weird.
well its a little reassuring to hear this 'may' be factory protocol.
techs do weird things here in thailand, i was thinking some joker may have sprayed the board with hardware store lacquer to make it bling and more presentable for selling.
The lacquer type stuff is used on some amps to protect from moisture and on others to protect the components from vibration. Another possible reason is to make servicing them less desirable.
