...I've stumbled upon DCX2496...I also have Behringer Ultrabass EX-1200, it can take the care of the subwoofer in the case I decide to go 3 way + sub with DCX2496...
Looks like good stuff. But what are you doing for volume control? Between the crossover and the amps I hope? You'll use the digital input on the DCX2496?
Otherwise (you may know this already) if you run analog-in with volume control before that, you'll throw away dynamic range. I don't know how good the linearity of the Behringer A/D-D/A chain is, but very quiet volumes might sound bad.
I'm fully aware of gain staging. Yes, I'm planning on using digital connection, right now I'm using soundcards integrated volume control(ESI Juli@, I have no idea how is it done inside - digital or analog), with 0dB being the loudest I use (amps will go more, but I see no need), most of the listening is at -20dB -5dB from max, cant say I miss any detail (even headphones). Probably I'll attenuate the amps so that the processor uses max of its headroom for the most comfortable listening level plus 6-10dB, and leave it to digital volume control, right now I'm not fancy building 6 channel volume controller (its easy but I'm lazy)
I've did some tests with a local guy who builds a lot of loudspeakers, we had a long conversation about audio stuff and I think I'll settle with Seas u18rnx/p + KE25SC or MHT12 (I have a chance to listen to them this week), active 2 way + sub.
Zaph got those tested. Any comments on the responce ? I liked the sound.
