Another tube I've recently come across is the 1AX7 (not to be confused with the 12AX7, the very popular 9 pin dual triode). I remember for some reason believing this tube is a diode of some sort, but I'm not sure. I'm going to find the box with this tube to double check the cartons for misprints; just in case. I checked all over the internet and can not find a data sheet for a 1AX7. It's almost as if this thing doesn't exist, yet I have a carton full of them. Any one who can shed some light on this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Give us a few more clues. How many pins? What type of base? Plate cap?
If it is a small 9 pin tube with a plate cap, my guess is a 1AX2. The 1AX2 was a high voltage rectifier used in black and white TV sets in the late 40's and 50's. Not much use for them today.
