Is the 1624 the same as the 807 but different heater volts?

The 6L6-oids are:

807) Five pin base, top cap, glass envelope, 6.3V heater

1625) Seven pin base, top cap, glass envelope, 12.6V heater

6BG6) Octal base, top cap, glass envelope, 6.3V heater

The 1624 has the same base and profile as the 807, but the plate characteristics are much different. The 1624 was intended for mobile transcievers, and included a DH cathode that could be switched off while receiving to conserve battery power.

The plate characteristic shows that its main operation was Class AB2, B, or C. You can make a Class *1 audio amp from it, but get very low power out for a 600Vdc rail.

It really needs to work as a Class *2 amp to get any real power out.
